GENERAL

Are all your products made from locally sourced ingredients in Bali?

We source all our ingredients in Bali and the rest of Indonesia. We support the local peoplewho are growing or making the ingredients needed forthe best quality products on the market.

Do you wholesale and/or white label internationally?

The short answer is yes. Send us an inquiryand let’s talk about it!

How can I find Sukime products in Bali?

We have multiple shops that carry our products in Ubud, Canggu, and Gili Air. Send us a message at info@sukime.com to let us know where you are. We’ll send you to one of our closest retailers.

Are your products safe for children?

Always consult a health professional if your baby is under 6 months old.

Whenever applying a new product to your child (or yourself for that matter), it is always wise to spot test on a small area like the inner arm or thigh the day before use to make sure there aren’t any unknown sensitivities to any of the ingredients.

If irritation occurs, try another product.

For the shampoo bar, we recommend using our bars for children’s hair and body. Of course, be careful of the eyes as it can cause a burning sensation, so rinse well with water if this happens.

So-called “tear-free” baby shampoo will have the same effect on the eyes (they will irritate them!) but contains a synthetic numbing agent to mask the stinging. Keep your eyes closed when using any shampoo on your hair and head.

That being said, our formulas are very gentle and mild and were formulated specifically to be suitable for children and those with sensitive skin.

SHAMPOO BAR

How many washes can I get from a shampoo bar?

This is difficult to answer as it depends on how long and thick your hair is, how often the hair is washed and conditioned, how the bars are stored, how many people are using the bars, etc.

Remember that our shampoo bars are totally concentrated shampoo with minimal water content. With proper use and care, they should last for a long time!

With the water removed, these concentrated shampoo bars CAN do the job of 2 to 3 regular bottles of commercial liquid shampoo, and there is NO plastic bottle to throw away afterward.

SHAMPOO BAR USE SUGGESTIONS:

  • Keep them dry and allow them to have plenty of fresh air between uses
  • Don’t let your shampoo bar sit in a puddle of water
  • If your bar ever gets waterlogged and becomes gooey, simply set it on a draining soap dish for a few days and let it dry out thoroughly

Does a shampoo bar dry out my hair?

No, our bars are full of moisturizing oils and butters that prevent the bars from stripping your hair and leaving it dried out and unhappy.

Do I need to use a conditioner?

You can use a conditioner if you want to. However, one of the benefits from using a shampoo bar is it won’t extract all the natural oils from the hair which a bottle of shampoo does due to them having petroleum products. This means your scalp won’t require a moisturizing conditioner. Your hair is also less likely to be tangled when using a bar, so you may have less need for a conditioner for this purpose.

Will I experience a "transition" period of I've been using normal store bought shampoo?

Only a percentage of shampoo bar users experience a true “transition”.

The honest truth is, you won’t know until you try. The transition time is how long it takes for your hair & scalp to detox from chemicals and begin to self-regulate on a natural cycle.

Typical symptoms include a waxy texture and/or a greasy/heavy feel to the hair – And this is only TEMPORARY, and it’s a great sign that your hair is on its way to a healthier, more balanced state!

During the transition period, your hair and scalp are beginning to recover from the unnatural and unbalanced cleansing of traditional detergent-based shampoos.

Traditional “mainstream” shampoos contain surfactants in the form of detergent-based cleansers that severely strip the hair and scalp of its natural sebum. Sure, they clean away dirt and bad oil, but they wash away all the GOOD oil too!

That’s why most people feel they can’t live without conditioner – because the shampoo they are using has stripped the hair of all its natural, nourishing oils.

Shampoo bars, on the other hand, are made using a traditional natural soap-making method, which results in gentle cleansing properties (free of detergent surfactants) that wash away dirt and impurities without stripping the hair of its natural oils.

Why are there some black residues coming out when I comb my hair wet after shower?

The black residues are what are in the ingredients, so that will be solidified coconut oil, black charcoal … etc. The black residues appear as a result of NOT rinsing your hair well enough.

The charcoal certainly reveals how well you rinse your hair, so no worries – Just rinse your hair thoroughly with warm-hot water (NO cold water, Warm-Hot Water!), and it’s all good.

How long will it take for my hair to adjust to your natural shampoo bar?

Depending on how often you wash your hair, it usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks. Sometimes even longer. Give your hair some time to get used to this new way of washing. You may not be immediately satisfied if this is the first time you are using a shampoo bar. This is because your hair and scalp first have to get used to the fact that you no longer use chemical products and need the time to recover.

After a few washes, the hair may feel a bit greasy. If you have been washing a bit longer with a solid shampoo bar, you WILL start to notice that your hair will get more volume, and your hair is wonderfully soft.

Do I need to use an apple cider vinegar rinse after using shampoo bars?

You shouldn’t need to do an apple cider vinegar rinse after shampooing with our bars as it has pH levels similar to that of the hair (between 5 and 5.5).

However, if you feel you have residue or your locks benefit from an ACV rinse, by all means, go for it!

Can I use your shampoo bars on my color-treated hair?

Yes. In fact, most people find shampoo bars are significantly better for color-treated hair compared to traditional shampoo bottles.

Our shampoo bars are FREE of sulfates and detergents, so that’s a great benefit for color-treated hair. Washing only once or twice a week will DEFINITELY help your hair retaining color (regardless of what shampoo you are using).

And in general, efrain from heat tool exposure and UV rays help with hair color retention as well.

Will the type of water affect my use of shampoo bars and my hair care routine?

Hard, chlorinated, mineralized and fluoridated water may all affect the outcome of your shampoo and conditioning routine.

Make sure you are using salt-free water (showers in some islands around Bali use ocean water).
